Everyone was watching the sky the hours leading up to the start of this wedding – but the clouds held back the rain, and the beautiful outdoor ceremony went on as planned.  So happy for Alyssa and Dresdan – they love spending time outside together, so it was meaningful to have their vows exchanged in this setting.  Without further adieu, here it is, the Jordan Gordon wedding 🙂

I am excited to see his face when he sees me for the first time, kissing him, and our first dance. ~Alyssa

I look forward to seeing her all dressed in white and smiling (probably crying) as we take the first step into our new life together. ~Dresdan

Alyssa’s dad is one of the Jordan Brothers!  His song during the ceremony brought more than a few tears.

We met in the 8th grade when we were assigned seats next to one another.  At that time we were just friends and I would actually get annoyed by him for following me around for the next 2 years.

When they “knew”:

[quote]

She Says: I knew he was the one when my mom had breast cancer and he was so supportive and would stand at my locker to give me a hug every day.  Also, when I went to Mexico for a week I realized how much I missed him.  I missed how much he made me laugh and his hugs.

He Says: It didn’t take long after meeting her for me to know that she was the one.  She had a good sense of humor, liked to do fun things outside, and had an irresistible smile that just made me all tingly inside every time I saw it.  She had all the qualities in a girl that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

The PROPOSAL:

[quote]

She Says: I had a feeling it was coming.  My dad kind-of told me a few weeks before that Dres had asked (my dad tells me everything) haha.  He took me out for dinner at Olive Garden and after dinner asked me if we could go ice-skating.  At that point I was in a dress and heels and it was sleeting outside so I said maybe we shouldn’t or we should at least go and change first.  We ended up not going and heading back to my house.  I stopped at the barn to feed the horses on the way home and while I was feeding them Dres came over and hugged me and picked me up and said how much he loved me and that he wanted nothing other than to be with me for the rest of our lives and to have a family with me.  Next thing I knew he was on his knee in front of me J.  (his original idea was to propose while we were ice-skating, but since that didn’t work out he said he couldn’t wait any longer).  I said “of course” and then kept repeating “oh my gosh oh my gosh” in the highest voice Dresdan has said he ever heard while tearing up.  I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait to tell everyone J

He Says: I’m pretty sure she knew it was coming.  I wanted to ask for a long time, but didn’t have the money for a ring.  I tried to just keep her mind off of it so that it would be a surprise, but that was hard to do.  When it came time, of course, nothing worked out like I planned, but in the end she still said yes and I couldn’t be happier.

One thing they love about each other:

[quote]

She Says: It’s super hard to pick only one thing.  I think one of the main things is how supportive he is.  No matter what I am going through he is there to help me.  With my type 1 diabetes he’s always there to remind me to take care of myself and encourage me that it’s worth it. He also checks my blood, changes my pump, and has saved my life numerous times (carrying me when I pass out and feeding me).  Even though I have so many issues, he is willing to work with me and support me though it which means more to me than anything.  He gives me a will to take care of myself so that I can be with him for as long as I can.

He Says: It’s hard to pick one thing, but if I had to choose I would say her loving nature.  She is very caring, patient, and forgiving.  After all the ups and downs, we have been through, I know she still loves me with a passion unlike anything I have ever seen; that she will always be there to love and support me through anything.

Something quirky about each other:

[quote]

She says: Dresdan talks in his sleep and motions in his sleep- a lot.  He has talked about there being “sooo much poop” while moving his hands in a motion to pick it up.  He has yelled “Lys we have to hold this (while pushing on my side) the turbo is leaking oil!!!”. He has thrown his arm up to catch a football.  And, he has told me to “Go and get my headphones” and then when I laugh and tell him he is talking in his sleep he says, “are you just going to sit there and watch me flounder around?”  It’s always a surprise what he’s going to say and do and it’s always hilarious telling him what he said when I finally wake him up (he is a really deep sleeper) and hearing what he was dreaming about at the time.

He Says: She does this cute little laugh where she opens her mouth and closes her throat so that when she laughs it kinda sounds like Winnie the Pooh.  When she does it I can’t help but laugh too, which causes her to laugh harder and then we just keep going until we are both rolling on the floor.  I know she is self-conscious about it, but I love it.
