In this season of giving, as I think on all that I have been given, I am grateful! Life Story Photography would not exist without the support of many people. I share the sentiment of Eric Carle, found on the back of one of his famous children’s books, that “this book had hundreds of co-authors” (speaking of the children in all the schools he has visited). All the work that I do has hundreds of co-authors.
From the beginning – the support of my parents in my pursuit of photography (my mom pushing me toward the front the first time I photographed a wedding when I was 15). To Chris Millette, the photographer I shadowed in high school who encouraged me at a turning point in my career making decisions. To my photography & art professors who helped develop my vision and gave me a technical foundation. To my friends and family who were subjects for countless photographs for my assignments. To all the assistant photographers who have been a crucial part of Life Story’s wedding photography – they are named on the blog and appreciated. To Crystal, the designer who has been an essential part of the team this year. To my husband (and best friend) who has always respected my passion for photography, even when it was taking more from our bank account than it was making. To the accounting class I took and the business mentors who helped change that so we can continue to improve what we offer, meet more people, and tell more stories. To my kids who have captured my heart beyond what words can describe. The amazing gift of having them and watching them grow has given me a passion for newborn photography and the meaning it holds. To the caretakers who spend time with them the days I am working in and out of the office. I could go on and on…
And, I am grateful for my awesome clients! Their kind words are a constant motivator. I am grateful that they share their stories with me and trust me to capture them. I am privileged to get to know each of them better as we brainstorm ideas, shoot their images and hang photos on their walls.
Take this family, for example, who are clients of mine (hugs!) They are co-authors of the photographs we create together. They bring excitement and ideas to every shoot. For this session, they gathered all the props to create this scene for their Nana’s Christmas present – a shoot with the great grandkids! It was a joy.
And to top it all off – a magical snowstorm blew in at the end of the session! (okay, just kidding…having some fun in Photoshop).
Merry Christmas everyone!
